Professional, Behavioral & Legal Requirements

AGPEX programs involve international travel, agricultural activities and living in a different cultural environment. To help ensure a safe and positive experience for everyone involved, all applicants must meet certain professional, behavioral and legal requirements.

Professional requirements

Applicants are expected to:

  • Provide accurate and complete information throughout the application process.

  • Have the education, experience or qualifications required for their chosen program.

  • Demonstrate a genuine interest in agriculture and a willingness to learn.

  • Follow the reasonable instructions and procedures of the host organization.

  • Participate responsibly in the activities included in their program.

  • Respect the professional environment, equipment, facilities and property of the host organization.

  • Communicate openly with AGPEX and the host organization throughout the program.

Behavioral requirements

Participants are expected to:

  • Treat host organizations, colleagues, local communities and other participants with respect.

  • Respect local customs, culture and applicable rules.

  • Behave responsibly and professionally throughout the program.

  • Follow reasonable health, safety and workplace rules applicable to the activities they undertake.

  • Avoid behavior that could endanger themselves or others.

  • Refrain from harassment, discrimination, violence, threats or other inappropriate conduct.

Legal requirements

Applicants must:

  • Hold a valid passport and provide truthful information regarding their identity and immigration status.

  • Meet the immigration, entry and participation requirements applicable to their destination.

  • Comply with the laws and regulations of the destination country throughout the program.

  • Inform AGPEX of any circumstances that could materially affect their ability to participate in the program.

  • Provide requested documentation where reasonably necessary to assess eligibility or complete program-related procedures.

Previous legal matters

Having a previous legal matter or criminal record does not automatically prevent an applicant from participating in an AGPEX program.

Where relevant information is disclosed or identified, AGPEX may assess the circumstances on a case-by-case basis, taking into account factors such as:

  • the nature and seriousness of the matter;

  • how long ago it occurred;

  • the applicant's circumstances since then;

  • the requirements of the specific program;

  • applicable immigration or entry requirements; and

  • the requirements of the host organization.

AGPEX may request additional information or documentation where reasonably necessary to complete this assessment.

Certain circumstances may prevent participation where required by law, immigration authorities, insurance requirements, or the host organization's legitimate requirements.

Health and safety

Participants must be able to safely participate in the activities included in their chosen program.

Applicants should disclose any relevant condition or limitation that could affect their ability to safely perform the activities included in the program.

AGPEX does not require applicants to disclose unnecessary medical information. Where specific health or fitness requirements apply to a program, these will be communicated to the applicant before participation.

Individual assessment

Meeting the general requirements does not guarantee acceptance into an AGPEX program.

Every application is assessed individually, considering the applicant's profile, the requirements of the selected program, the host organization and the applicable legal and immigration requirements.

AGPEX reserves the right to decline an application where participation would not be appropriate or where the applicant does not meet the requirements of the relevant program.
